Hunting and fishing
The national park is a good hunting area if the experience of nature is as important as the yield. There are good fishing opportunities in the national park, and possibilities to rent a boat on Storskogvatnet and Litlverivatnet.
The local hunting and fishing association, Fauske and Sørfold hunting and fishing association, rents out both cabins and boats in the national park.
A bit special for Rago, compared to other national parks, is that there are restrictions on which species are allowed to hunt. You may only hunt ptarmigans, hare, mink and red fox, which means, for example, that moose hunting is not allowed here.
In Rago you may hook trout or char, and you can fish as you would on state land. The lakes of Storskogvatnet, Litlverivatnet and Sølvskarvatna are all relatively good places to catch fish. Both Statskog and Fauske and Sørfold JFF rent out rowing boats in Rago and fishing with nets is permitted.
